An old Icelandic proverb says "Fertile is water that runs under lava." The proverb is particularly appropriate for the water that flows into Lake Þingvallavatn. The close relationship between the ecosystem of Lake Þingvallavatn and geological history gives Þingvallavatn a special place among lakes of this world. No other lake has as many species of char and its brown trout is quite particular. The Þingvallavatn char is usually rather large, with fishes over 10 pound not uncommon, and the brown trout is even bigger. Lake Þingvallavatn is considered one of the best arctic char and brown trout spots in the world.

Hólaá is a river that connects lake Laugarvatn and lake Apavatn. The river stocks both Arctic Char and Brown Trout and both can grow big in this river, fishes over 3kg are not uncommon.
This river is suitable for beguiners and experienced fishers alike.
The river supports all style of flyfishing as well as bait casing.

River Brúará is ideally suited for upstream nymphing as well as fishing with streamers. The catch is arctic char and late summer occasional salmon. Brúará is considered to be a challenge, and the char is hard to catch, this makes the river exceptionally interesting for experienced trout fly fisher, you will need all your tricks. This tour is not for the beginner angler or kids.
